The story of the company began in the year 2001. and the beginning was very simple: Laura Dotolo, a fashion stylist, was not able to find a proper bag for herself – a bag, that would correspond to her taste and fulfill her needs. All the bags available in the shops seemed to give up comfort and being useful to being just nicely designed. “Giant logos, garish bling, signature patterns”, - this is what Laura Dotolo says about such bags. She could not understand, how could modern designers forget about simple women’s needs? Why being shick appeared to be counter to being tasteful and elegant?
The decision, Laura Dotolo decided to choose, was not a simple one: her decision was to create her own company. Today Laura designs bags in clear. Classic and – what os most important – utilitarian style. “She draws on her classic New England sensibility and inherited Italian aesthetic”? –say the critics about the creations by Laura Dotolo. The company claims, it tries to take functional ideas and make them their own. An envelope, a mail pouch, a saddlebag – everything will go. “Our designs will outlast any trend or fad”, - adds Laura Dotolo. She also likes to say, she hopes, her designs will be used by the women for a lifetime.
The company has developed a complicated and rich retail net in Europe and the USA and also works on on-line sales. This helps Clutch bags become closer to the customers.
