The holder of a master’s degree, Kathleen Dustin designs and creates funny handbags with her own hands. In childhood, Kathleen Dustin against her mother wishes dreamed of becoming a pianist and touring all over the world. Her mother wanted Kathleen to become an artist. Kathleen Dustin makes handbags from polymer clay and then decorates them with strikingly beautiful paintings, appliqués, carvings using her own sketches. In fact, polymer clay is tamperproof, which makes polymer clay bags durable.
At first Kathleen depicted faces of the Renaissance epoch women on her handbags and later there appeared some fragments from the sacred Scriptures.
Models created by Kathleen Dustin are so amazing that they can even be used as inner decoration elements. But Kathleen wants another usage for her pieces of art. ‘I do my best to create handbags that are beautiful, as well as functional’, says Kathleen. In her opinion, statuettes just collect dust, whereas bags are functional as you can carry them wherever you go – you can use them.
Art critics admitted these bags to be unique. Despite Kathleen’s desire to see her handbags in usage, some of them turned into museum pieces that are exhibited in the world’s most famous museums.
